Ways To Conquer The Stress Of Understanding Guitar Chords For The Beginner
Even though there are no real shortcuts, there are some useful strategies that you can use to learn beginner guitar chords, starting today.
Lets suppose that you have a chart of chords and that you already have a comprehension of how to play the guitar, read a diagram and put your fingers on the fretboard and strings in the right way. Your subsequent step would not be to try to know every chord that is on the chart as soon as possible.
A better way would be to start with only two to three easy to play guitar chords. These should ideally be belonging to the same key or family. A key is a group of interrelated chords or a "family" that guitarists use when writing songs.
Many guitar education methods will start a novice out using the key of A. 3 chords from this family are "A" "D" and "E".
With any of these three chords a person should be able to play loads of easy guitar songs.
Select one chord at a time and master the finger placement. Starting with the "A". Practice keeping your fingers down on the chord and lifting them up and reposition them again repeatedly. Do this as much as is comfortable for you. Don't worry too much about strumming at this point. This is sometimes known as building "muscle memory".
At this point try strumming. Strum all the strings that are supposed to be played for that chord. You might hear muted or buzzing sounds from the strings. If this happens, continue to keep your fingers holding down the appropriate strings and experiment with playing each string one at a time, listening to hear that a decent sound is coming from each string. Experiment with rocking your finger back and forth on each string until you get a clean sound.
When ever you seem to be comfortable with your first chord = "A", try going through the same steps for the subsequent one. Practice switching between chords in a similar way. Place your fingers for "A" and lift and replace your fingers for "D", and back to "A". Repeating this several times. After that you can add "E" to the mix. Begin with the A, to the D to the E and continue to keep looping this pattern or progression.
Don't get frustrated if your not moving forward as fast as you expect. After some time and practice you will be strumming and know how to switch between chords easily.
